How we handle your files

How it works, tips and questions

Add your PDFs to Merge PDF, put them in order with the arrow buttons and press Merge PDFs. The files are joined inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

Step by step

  1. Upload two or more PDFs.
  2. Put them in the order you want them to appear.
  3. Merge, and download the single combined document.

Good to know

Order is decided before you merge

Files are combined top to bottom in the order shown on screen, so arrange them before merging rather than fixing it afterwards. If you do end up with pages in the wrong place, Organise PDF will let you drag them around without starting again.

A practical use: one file per application

Most application portals accept a single attachment. Merging a certificate, a marksheet and an identity document into one PDF, in the order the form asks for them, is usually what is wanted, and it avoids the common mistake of uploading the right documents in the wrong slots.

Merging keeps quality intact

Combining PDFs does not re-encode anything. Pages are copied across as they are, so the text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution. The merged file is roughly the sum of the originals in size - if that is too large, compress it afterwards.

Questions

How many PDFs can I merge at once?

Several at a time, with each file up to 50 MB.

Will merging reduce the quality of my pages?

No. Nothing is re-compressed. The pages in the merged file are identical to the originals.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, then merge the unlocked copy.

Can I choose which pages from each file get merged?

Not in this tool. Use Split PDF to pull out the pages you want, then merge those.

Does the merged PDF keep bookmarks and links?

Internal page links and basic structure are preserved. Complex bookmark trees from the source files may not survive intact.
